The History of Music Festivals

Festival comes from the Latin word festivus, meaning celebrating a special day or observance. When we think of festivals, we think of an impressive gathering of people commemorating the occasion with, from Shakespeare in the Park to Life is Beautiful in Downtown Las Vegas.

Delphi in Ancient Greece is the earliest known music festival to date. Festival began there and continued through the Middle Ages to what we know them as today: a massive party. A celebration of music.
From Summerfest to Woodstock, these festivals have become a place for bands and artists to share their joy of performing and fans to share their love for live music.
