What Is Punk Rock Bowling?

Punk Rock Bowling is an annual music festival and gathering of your closest 15,000 friends. It began with the Stern brothers bowling and wanting to share their love and passion for the punk and DIY-scene with others.

20 years later, the brothers and the community continue to celebrate their ideals at the Punk Rock Bowling XXII.

What to Expect

Like many music festivals, this event will feature more than just great music by popular artists from the genre. This festival is also unique because it lasts more than the weekend. 42 bands will play over 3-days at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center’s two stages.

After the show, the party goes on featuring even more bands, around 55 more. And yes, there will be bowling with cash prizes for the winners. Be sure to register your team. There will be art shows, a kick-off party, and so much more.

The 2020 Punk Rock Bowling lineup promises a whole weekend of rallying and raucous good times. Finishing off the 3-day weekend of concerts is Madness, a first-ever for PRB Las Vegas fans.

Punk Rock Bowling 2020 Headliner: Madness

Punk and Ska rockers from across the pond, Madness has been playing together since 1976. From the town called Camden Town in north London, the six musicians offer a mixture of genres, palatable for those who like “two-tone” to New Wave enthusiasts.

Originally comprised of seven members, the band helped launch the ska revival in the 70s. They were first called the Invaders before they later changed their name to what it is now.

After gaining momentum in England in the 80s and evolving into more pop sounds, the group hit it big when their song aired on MTV. By ‘83, the single “Our House” and its MTV exposure allowed the single to soar to the summer’s American Top Ten. The single came out the same time as another record release, officially throttling the band into international stardom.

“Our House” has now become a fan favorite and indelible 80s classic tune.

Since their formation in the 1970s, the punk, ska, pop band has maintained most of their members, including:

  • Mike Barson – songwriter, keyboards, pianos, vibraphone, and backing vocals
  • Mark Bedford – bass guitar
  • Chris Foreman – guitar
  • Graham “Suggs” McPherson – lead vocals
  • Lee Thompson – saxophone, percussion, and backing vocals
  • Dan Woodgate – drums, percussion

Their last and 12th album “Can’t Touch Us Now” was released in 2016. Having played at the London Olympic games and Buckingham palace, Madness has had a few concert reunions and continues to tour internationally.

Madness will end the Memorial Day weekend of concerts Monday night at the main stage.
