In April 2020, Reggae Rise Up Las Vegas promises a spring weekend full of your favorite reggae groups, including the ever-popular headliner Slightly Stoopid.

Learn more about this event and the day one headliner.

What Is Reggae Rise Up?

Reggae Rise Up isn’t just your typical festival. It’s a time to celebrate good music and good vibes but also a lifestyle and culture that spans coast to coast.

In 2011, the annual festival began in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The weekend-packed event has only grown in popularity, expanding to other states like Utah and Nevada.

What to Expect

Unlike other music festivals, this 2-day concert and cultural occasion will feature food options, art, and activities for all ages and taste preferences.

Gates will open April 18 and 19 at 12 p.m. The final song will end around 11 p.m. both nights as well. The Saturday lineup includes Soja, Common Kings, Mike Love, The Movement, and many more!

Reggae Rise Up 2020 Headliner: Slightly Stoopid

Saturday night’s headliner, Slightly Stoopid first rose to reggae fame in 1996. They began their eclectic band in ‘94 in Ocean Beach, near San Diego, California.

Longtime childhood friends Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald started the band while most of the members were still in high school, signing their first record deal shortly after meeting Sublime lead singer, Bradley Nowell.

Inspired by punk rock groups like Rancid and Sublime, the group released their first studio album, “Slightly $toopid,” in 1996. They would go onto release 12 more albums in the 20 years they’ve played together. Their last album released in 2018, “Everyday Life, Everyday People,” quickly topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.

Having toured frequently over the last two decades, Slightly Stoopid stays busy with all eight members contributing to the recognizable sound that’s been referred to as “a spiritual bath of positive party energy.”

The band to this day includes friend Doughty and McDonald as well as the eccentric ensemble:

  • Miles Doughty – guitar, bass, vocals
  • Kyle McDonald – guitar, bass, vocals
  • Ryan Moran “RyMo” – drums
  • Oguer (OG) Ocon – congas, percussion, harp, vocals
  • Daniel “Dela” Delacruz– saxophone
  • Paul Wolstencroft – keyboards
  • Andy Geib – trombone
  • Scott Downes – lead vocals

Slightly Stoopid has not only featured Sublime’s frontman but other popular, world-famous musical talents like Rashawn Ross from Dave Mathews Band and Karl Denson from Rolling Stones.

With 4 live albums and alongside the likes of Snoop Dog and the Roots, Slightly Stoopid loves live music as much as we do so you don’t want to miss their performance this Spring.
